Woodland Park Zoo
These pictures are from an afternoon trip with my parents on July 31, 2006. I'm a little behind on posting pictures I've taken in the past month, but I am working hard on catching up ;-)
Red-Crowned Crane
I'm fairly certain that this is the chick that hatched on May 17, 2006. There were still 3 cranes, and this one was the smallest, so I'm pretty sure it is the "baby." It sure has grown up fast! (Taken on July 31, 2006)

Red Panda
It smirked at us ;-)
I have a better Red Panda shot coming up after I get a little more caught up on posting pictures I have taken...
I love my log...
The jaguar was hugging his log, scratching it, and rubbing his face on it - just like our cat does with his scratching box. It was kind of cute.
Jaguar
He must have been swimming just before we arrived - my parents picked a good day to visit the zoo because everyone was out and about, even the Snow Leopard!
Humboldt Penguin
This penguin acted like he was going to jump in the water, but I think he was just teasing us :-) Or maybe he thought we would feed him...
Malayan Sun Bear
The day I was there with my parents, there was a guy with a huge T.V.-style video camera and a small crowd at the Sun Bear exhibit. We decided to watch too, and then the Sun Bears came out and were licking the logs and playing for the cameras. All of my shots but this one turned out blurry, but they were sure cool to see!
Snow Leopard, Awake!
When I went to the zoo with my parents, it was the first time that I actually saw the Snow Leopard awake. It even got up, stretched, and changed positions! I hadn't realized how BIG it was. Unfortunately, most of the shots were pretty blurry, except these two.

Greater Vancouver Zoo Pictures:
We stopped at the Greater Vancouver Zoo on the way back from our trip to Squamish, B.C. We saw some animals that we don't have in Seattle, but the Woodland Park Zoo is definitely nicer, both for the visitors and the animals!

Raccoon
Greater Vancouver Zoo.
They had raccoons on display at the zoo, which I found kind of funny considering that many people who live in the area can probably find them in their back yards after dark on a semi-regular basis ;-)
Ostrich Feet & Neck
Greater Vancouver Zoo.
Apparently ostriches are the only birds with two toes. I thought that their feet looked pretty cool...
Ostrich
Greater Vancouver Zoo.
This guy was very interested in us. He peered at us over and through the fence, and then followed us along the fence. Cool, but a little unnerving ;-)
Zebu Cattle
Greater Vancouver Zoo.
It looks like it's charging, but it's really only getting ready to sit down ;-)
Reindeer Parade
Greater Vancouver Zoo.
While we were standing by the fence the Reindeer appeared from the trees and proceded on in a single-file line. That was pretty cool to see!
Emu
Greater Vancouver Zoo.
I had to wait for this emu to pop its head up from behind the feeding box. Luckily, it was interested in what we were doing ;-)
Siberian Tiger
Greater Vancouver Zoo.
This tiger seemed content to lay inside the hollowed out log in the exhibit...
Statue
Greater Vancouver Zoo.
I couldn't get a good picture of the real thing inside the Vivarium, so I settled for a nice picture of the statue instead ;-)
