Doug and Galen have been working on this for a long time, so the launch is very exciting for all of us! They are already getting some great reviews, so if you haven't checked it out yet give it a try.
Tiger at Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, WA.
It was an overcast day, and the tiger was hanging out in a sheltered spot. Later on it was out and about.
This volunteer was out "walking the owl" and telling us about it. The owl had huge, beautiful orange eyes, and seemed to enjoy talking to the people around it. I like this shot in particular because they are both talking :-)
This muskox was playing near the viewing area. It kept ramming the blue plastic tub in the lower right corner of the picture, and tried to pick ti up using the curved tips of its horns. It was really cool to see it playing, since they have always been so reserved when I have seen them in the past.
Yesterday I went to the zoo and used my newest toy - a 1970's vintage T-mount Spiratone 400mm f6.3 lens. If the light is good (like yesterday afternoon!) I can use it without a tripod...I think it will take some more practice to focus and hold still, but I like the preliminary results!
Cortez likes to make sure that this plant doesn't take over the living room. (It doesn't really have a chance, and we're kind of surprised it's still alive...)
we have a window that is about 18'' tall at waist level in our office on the 8th floor of Condon Hall, and this is our view...
This is the flower on some kind of herb, but I can't remember which one...it is *very* small though!
I'm fairly certain that this is the chick that hatched on May 17, 2006. There were still 3 cranes, and this one was the smallest, so I'm pretty sure it is the "baby." It sure has grown up fast! (Taken on July 31, 2006)

It smirked at us ;-)
I have a better Red Panda shot coming up after I get a little more caught up on posting pictures I have taken...
The jaguar was hugging his log, scratching it, and rubbing his face on it - just like our cat does with his scratching box. It was kind of cute.
He must have been swimming just before we arrived - my parents picked a good day to visit the zoo because everyone was out and about, even the Snow Leopard!
This penguin acted like he was going to jump in the water, but I think he was just teasing us :-) Or maybe he thought we would feed him...
The day I was there with my parents, there was a guy with a huge T.V.-style video camera and a small crowd at the Sun Bear exhibit. We decided to watch too, and then the Sun Bears came out and were licking the logs and playing for the cameras. All of my shots but this one turned out blurry, but they were sure cool to see!
When I went to the zoo with my parents, it was the first time that I actually saw the Snow Leopard awake. It even got up, stretched, and changed positions! I hadn't realized how BIG it was. Unfortunately, most of the shots were pretty blurry, except these two.
We stopped at the Greater Vancouver Zoo on the way back from our trip to Squamish, B.C. We saw some animals that we don't have in Seattle, but the Woodland Park Zoo is definitely nicer, both for the visitors and the animals!

They had raccoons on display at the zoo, which I found kind of funny considering that many people who live in the area can probably find them in their back yards after dark on a semi-regular basis ;-)

Apparently ostriches are the only birds with two toes. I thought that their feet looked pretty cool...
